Screening of "The Kitchen of Las Patronas"
Start Date: 12/5/2018Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Date: 12/5/2018End Time: 9:00 PM

Event Description:

The film "The Kitchen of Las Patronas" presents the remarkable journeys made on the “The Beast”, a train through Mexico, on which some of the region’s most vulnerable migrants perch perilously for days. The tracks pass by the town of La Patrona in Southern Mexico, where a group of women have taken it upon themselves to provide fresh meals to those on the move. Initially acting purely out of compassion for the migrants, Las Patronas come to discover more about themselves, their rights, and their role as women.

Please join the IMRC at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, in the CIGI Auditorium at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, for a screening of the film as part of the Global Migration Film Festival. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Lucy Luccisano and Dr. Carla Angulo-Pasel. Please bring a donation for the Food Bank.
