Event Description:

Every Thursday, the Faculty of Music is pleased to present our free Music at Noon concert series, where local, national and international artists perform for the Kitchener-Waterloo community.

This week we welcome Kimberly Barber (mezzo-soprano), Anna Ronai (piano) and Ulrike Anton (flute) to our series.

Und der Regen rinnt: Music of the Holocaust

Features music and texts by those incarcerated at Theresienstadt concentration camp during World War II with mezzo-soprano Kimberly Barber, pianist Anna Ronai and flutist Ulrike Anton. This program was premiered in Vienna in December 2018. The concert will be followed by a screening of the documentary Refuge in Music, featuring interviews with Theresienstadt survivors Alice Herz-Sommer (pianist) and Coco Schumann (guitarist), who bear witness to both the suffering of the camps, but also to the power of music to lift up the human spirit and offer hope in troubled times.
