Responding to the Human Realities of Conflict
Start Date: 3/16/2018Start Time: 9:00 AM
End Date: 3/16/2018End Time: 5:00 PM

Event Description:

On Friday, March 16, International Students  Overcoming War (ISOW) and the Departments of Global Studies and Religion & Culture are hosting a one-day symposium on ‘responding to the human realities of conflict'. For the purpose of this conference, the 'reality of conflict' that is being focused on is refugees. Laurier students are invited to participate in active-learning workshops on the role of refugee identity for Syrians, and for Palestinians in Lebanese and Syrian refugee camps.

Through active-learning exercises and discussions with those who have lived in conflict areas, students will gain a more nuanced perspective on conflict and be able to put a “face to the textbook.”
