All Day LIFT Exhibition Series: Unobstructed Beauty (Multi-Day Event)

This year, the LIFT series features three female painters from the Waterloo Region: Lauren Judge, Marion R. Anderson, and Anne Filiatrault. Each artist shares a narrative that invites viewers to reflect on how we perceive and experience our surrounding environment.

The LIFT microgalleries are located on floors 4-6 of the Waterloo campus Library daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Wilfrid Laurier University will welcome community members to tour its newest Waterloo campus building, Lazaridis Hall, as well as the Laurier Library, on Saturday, Sept. 16 as part of Doors Open Waterloo Region 2017.

    Come see Wilfrid Laurier University's newest Waterloo Campus building. This stunning 220,000-square-foot space was designed for student interaction and collaboration. With its 1,000-seat auditorium, green roof, breakout rooms for group projects, study space, and finance lab, Lazaridis Hall is home to 6,000 students and 130 full-time faculty in the internationally accredited academic programs of the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics. Doors Open visitors will see many highlights, including the signature drum-shaped lecture hall, the green roof, the large, four-storey atrium with bamboo garden and glass ceiling, and more. The Hall is a green building, targeted for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification from the Canada Green Building Council.

    Laurier's Library has transformed into a 21st-century hub of ideas, culture, and interactivity. Visit the Robert Langen Art Gallery, Laurier Archives, WLU Press (among Canada’s leading scholarly publishers), outdoor sunken garden/amphitheatre, and other re-energized spaces.

    The Laurier Archives will have a number of treasures from the collection on display including: a display of Historic hymnbooks including our manuscript Franciscan hymnal from the 16th century; original letters from Prime Minister Mackenzie King; historic records from local Lutheran churches; and papers and memorabilia from history of the university going back to 1911.
