  • 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Graduating During an Economic Downturn Virtual Panel

While we hope you are celebrating all of your accomplishments, we're also aware that it may also trigger feelings of uncertainty. There's no way around it: you're beginning the next chapter of your lives in a time that is very challenging to navigate.

You may have questions about how to stand out in the competitive job market, how you can leverage your network to get your career off on the right foot and what to do next.

There are some parallels in what Laurier’s classes of 2008 and 2009 experienced when they graduated in the midst of the Great Recession, and so, we’ve brought together a panel of accomplished Laurier alumni from these classes to discuss the challenges they faced and how they built resiliency to move their careers forward. They'll also offer advice and answer your burning questions about what they did to maintain their momentum after graduation.

    Panel:

    • Laura Carlson, Marketing Specialist/Consultant for Film Industry (BA '09)
    • Jeff Hong, Co-Founder & VP Strategic Initiatives, Bite Inc. (BBA '09)
    • Dorota Rams Skazinski, Career Consultant, Lazaridis Graduate Programs, Wilfrid Laurier University (BA '07, MEd '19)
    • Naomi Barrettara, Program Development and Digital Media Consultant (BMus '08)
