All Day Masterpiece: Feeling Golden (Multi-Day Event)

This new event invites students to express themselves through their artistic abilities. Each week the event is run, an overall theme will be released and students can sign-up and work to create their piece. Students will be given two weeks to create their submission. Students may use various skills to express their idea, this includes music, painting, drawing, sculpting, and more. Show us your creative side and sign-up today for a chance to win! This week's theme will be announced on June 8th at 11 am (feel free to send us your guess based on the title and other information provided).

The top fan favorites, as voted by the Laurier community, will receive a gift card prize.

    Hosted by Lauren Burrows, education and inclusion coordinator and Shilan.

    • Open to people who self-identify as Black.
    • Healing space includes support space, grounding activities, collective care and action-organizing opportunities.
    • Held every Thursday, beginning June 11 through July 2 from 4 to 5 p.m. EST

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Intercultural Compassion and COVID-19 [webinar]

    This workshop invites participants on a high-level exploration of cultural dimensions that impact how we understand and respond to collective traumas such as COVID-19. By examining how these dimensions intersect and often conflict, we can move towards responses that prioritize equity, compassion and mutual aid over maintaining status quos that uphold or reproduce harm.

    Presenter Bio: Lauren Burrows (she/her) is a Black feminist and abolitionist whose experience in social change labour expands over a decade. She works as an educator, consultant, and equity practitioner and currently provides her labour to the Centre for Student Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Wilfrid Laurier University. Lauren has a graduate degree in Social Justice and Community Engagement and is a proud Laurier alum.

    This workshop will help students improve the writing skills needed to develop the body of academic papers. We will discuss the effective use and integration of sources as well as how to craft solid academic paragraphs.
