All Day Mental Health Certificate for Educators – Special Learning Opportunities During the COVID-19 Crisis (Multi-Day Event)

In response to growing interest in supporting the mental health and well-being of the students during the COVID-19 crisis, the Laurier Faculty of Education and Office of Professional Development have created additional opportunities for educators to enrol in the multi-module Mental Health Certificate.

Each module is generally offered once per academic year (September to May). For this term only, Module 1 will also be offered April 13 to April 24, Module 2 (Depression and Other Mood Disorders) will be offered May 4 to May 15, and Module 3 (Anxiety) will be offered May 19 to May 29. Registration for all modules can be found here.

This online certificate provides K–12 educators and related professionals with the opportunity to better understand student mental health needs in diverse learning contexts, with a specific focus on strategies to promote well-being. Participants will learn how to improve their ability to recognize potential mental health problems, develop skills and strategies to support students experiencing mental health challenges, and learn to liaise, connect and communicate with resources provided by schools and school boards, and communicate with community resources when asked. Additional details can be found here.

At this time, you are invited to join a webinar on Monday, April 6 at 10 a.m. to hear more about the certificate. Register for the webinar.

Impostor Syndrome is the internal feeling or psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a “fraud.”

This panel discussion supports women to think beyond negative self-talk and provides tangible ways to quiet the negative voice in their head.
