The start of the 21st century has been characterized by an overwhelming number of pressing and overlapping social issues such as poverty, war, climate change, coupled with ongoing discrimination against some of the world’s most marginalized populations.
Recognition of these multiple and complex adversities along with an increased awareness of the importance of human connectedness has resulted in a global response to “do something”. For it is commonly understood that a social issue experienced in one part of the world has the potential to affect people everywhere. Addressing these pressing and interrelated adversities is therefore in everyone’s strategic interest.
Drawing from Professor Bree Akesson's work in settings of extreme adversity, this webinar will therefore provide an overview of these global challenges and make suggestions for action at the local level.
