As part of Indigenous Education Week 2020, join us at the Indigenous Student Centre for a warm bowl of soup and traditional Bannock.

    Learn to knit and hang out with other makers pursuing yarn-based creation in the Laurier Library Makerspace. We've got knitting needles and yarn so all you need is your curiosity. Beginners welcome. No signup required. Thanks to Jennifer for volunteering to lead this meetup.

    This workshop is open to all Laurier students, faculty and staff.

  • 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM Something Sacred - Reading and Reflecting on the Acts of the Apostles

    Read and reflect each Tuesday with Luther. Join us as Mona Tokarek LaFosse, Luther's assistant professor, reads the Acts of the Apostles. Followed by reflection and discussion. We host session weekly over the lunch hour.

    Stop by any day of the week for different activities:

    • Mondays – Contemplative Music
    • Tuesdays – Reading and Reflecting on the Book of Acts: A Window into the Early Church
    • Wednesdays – Prayers for the World
    • Thursdays – Chilling with Dogs; Multifaith Teachings
    • Fridays – Settler Work: Contemplative Arts, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG)

    Learn the basics of machine sewing in under an hour in the Laurier Library Makerspace. Sewing machines and materials provided. No prior experience required. Beginners welcome.

    This workshop is open to Laurier students, faculty and staff.

    Join us weekly for Coffee Club!

    Meet new people and share experiences from your own country while learning more about Canadian culture in a relaxed and informal setting. Coffee, tea and snacks will be served.

    No need to register! Just drop in at Laurier International to join in.

    Students who attend 8 sessions will get a designation on their Laurier Experience Record.

  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM Book launch – Colonialism, Song and Faith

    Join us as Philip Karimpanamannil Mathai, adjunct faculty member at Luther, discusses the themes of his recently released book Songs as Locus for a Lay Theology. With musical examples sung by members of Inshallah and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.

    His book reveals how songs and writings from the fringes of colonialism were embraced by local communities and became their chosen expression of faith.

    The formal part of the evening will be followed by a book signing and refreshments.

    Co-sponsored by the Kanata Centre and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.
