  • 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM Barry Ace: Coalesce, Mixed Media Installation (Opening)

Join us to celebrate the final exhibition of the season.

Coalesce presents a fusion of distinct Anishinaabeg aesthetics of the Great Lakes’ region with the refuse from Western society’s technological and digital age. This entanglement of materials intentionally shifts the object’s materiality and its accepted paradigm within the physical world. Through this integration and juxtaposition of recognizable Anishinaabeg materials used in Anishinaabeg material culture (e.g. glass beads, porcupine quills), with contemporary electronic materials (e.g. capacitors and resistors), the exhibition will challenge viewers to reject and re-examine notions of cultural status.

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM Beckett School at Laurier Adult Student Recital

Join our talented adult students as they perform pieces they've be working on during their weekly lessons. All ages are welcome to attend.

The Beckett School at Laurier's distinguished teachers offer music lessons in brass, woodwinds, percussion, strings, piano and voice to students of all-ages. Interested in beginning lessons? Email beckettschool@wlu.ca.

7:30 PM - 9:30 PM Community Music Ensemble

Laurier boasts the only university-based Community Music Ensemble (CME) in Canada. Laurier’s CME offers a diverse and changing instrumentation from year-to-year. Expect a program where you may just find yourself getting involved in the performance yourself!
