All Day LIFT Exhibition Series: Unobstructed Beauty (Multi-Day Event)

This year, the LIFT series features three female painters from the Waterloo Region: Lauren Judge, Marion R. Anderson, and Anne Filiatrault. Each artist shares a narrative that invites viewers to reflect on how we perceive and experience our surrounding environment.

The LIFT microgalleries are located on floors 4-6 of the Waterloo campus Library daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • All Day Zaagi’idwin: Silent, Unquestionable Act of Love, a multimedia installation by artist Leanna Marshall (Multi-Day Event)

Leanna Marshall is a member of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug. Her art practice focuses on the art of ancestral storytelling – creating an intersection where viewers can meet to understand the essence of relationships, connection/disconnection and loss. Through the making and documentation of seven jingle dresses, Marshall explores the stories that have shaped her perception of the complexities of her family history in the context of Canadian history. The social inequities, resistance and sadness told in these narratives serves as a springboard to examine the act of healing, compassion and forgiveness.

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM GAMETalk Speaker Series: Daryl Andrews

The GAMEtalk lecture series is a partnership between the Game Design and Development program and the Laurier Library to bring in speakers who are involved in the game industry to speak to students, faculty and the community. Come out to the BGNlab to hear from March's speaker of the month, Daryl Andrews.

    About the speaker:
Daryl Andrews has always been a big fan of board games but really got in the game hobby in 2011. He started by organizing board game events locally, which then grew into bigger things like charity board game events, a local con (Board Game Bash), and the Great Canadian Board Game Blitz (12+ annual events across Canada). Other accomplishments made by Daryl includes currently having four published games (Caffeine Rush, Fantasy Fantasy Baseball, Back to the Future: Outatime, The Walled City), but over 30 more boardgames and/or expansions already signed (Sagrada just funded on Kickstarter).

Daryl usually designs his games with a co-designer and has worked with 10+ designers and 10+ publishers. Recently, Daryl was hired as a board game consultant for IDW games, but he still spends the majority of his time as a freelance game designer. Every Tuesday at Noon (EST), he co-hosts the Meeple Syrup Show, a video podcast featuring board game industry guests.
