Event Description:
Leanna Marshall is a member of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug. Her art practice focuses on the art of ancestral storytelling – creating an intersection where viewers can meet to understand the essence of relationships, connection/disconnection and loss. Through the making and documentation of seven jingle dresses, Marshall explores the stories that have shaped her perception of the complexities of her family history in the context of Canadian history. The social inequities, resistance and sadness told in these narratives serves as a springboard to examine the act of healing, compassion and forgiveness. |
