10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Keep Calm and Study On!

Join Learning Skills and Development for a full day of food, stress-busting fun and exam preparation in the basement of the Carnegie Building!

“Keep Calm” activities are sponsored by campus partners and encourage fun, relaxation and fitness.

In the Commuter’s Lounge:

  • All day – Mindful colouring activities provided by the Stedman Community Bookstore
  • 10 a.m. – Plant your own study buddy with Wellness Education
  • 11 a.m. – Button making with Centre for Student Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • 12 p.m. – Hand massages with the Indigenous Student Centre
  • 1 p.m. – Make and take stress balls with Global Engagement Student Ambassadors
  • 2 p.m. – Ball pit with LOCUS

In CB207:

  • Noon to 1:30 p.m. – Video game tournament with the Laurier Library

At the Laurier Brantford YMCA:

  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Drop-in basketball in double gym
  • 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. – HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) fitness class in Studio B

Mini-workshops focusing on strategies for exam success, time management and self confidence will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  • 11:30 a.m. – Strategies for answering short answer exam questions
  • 12:30 p.m. – Using bullet journaling as a time management tool
  • 1:30 p.m. – Preparing for essay exams
  • 2:00 p.m. – Silence the inner critic with Accessible Learning

Students will have access to a dedicated study space in CB100 if they need a quiet place to work and can attend the math and statistics drop-in session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in MP115 (Market Place building).

Facilitated study groups for students in PS101 and BF190/199 will be hosted in CB207:

  • 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – PS101
  • 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. – BF190/BF199

When students need a study break, they can head to the Commuter’s Lounge for a hot lunch at 11 a.m. and snacks throughout the day:

  • All day – Coffee and tea
  • 10 a.m. – Hot chocolate bar provided by Wellness Education
  • 11 a.m. – Hot lunch served (with vegetarian options)
  • 1 p.m. – Snacks from around the world with Laurier International
  • 2 p.m. – Popcorn with Academic Advising

    All faculty and students are invited to the Tshepo graduate seminar for the visiting Queen Elizabeth Scholars from the University of Ghana who have been with us since the beginning of the semester. The seminar offers them a unique opportunity to present their MPhil. theses proposals that they have been working on under the supervision of Laurier and University of Ghana professors and to receive feedback from the Laurier Community.

    About Wellness 101

    This educational series of workshops runs once per month on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Wellness Education Centre, SS 1-107 (formerly the Student Health and Development Centre). There is one Wellness 101 workshop for each of the seven dimensions. Each workshop is run by wellness education staff and peer wellness educators and is based on research, active learning strategies, and student feedback.

    Workshops are free for all registered students, and registration is not required. All Wellness 101 workshops are approved Wellness Education Certificate activities.

  • 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM Global Migration Film Festival - This is Home

    Screened as part of the Global Migration Film Festival, "This is Home" is an intimate portrait of four Syrian refugee families arriving in America and struggling to find their footing. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion focusing on the resettlement of refugee families in the KW region featuring representatives of Reception House, Waterloo Region's resettlement agency.
