10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Presenting with Confidence: Communicating Effectively Workshop

This workshop will help students practice the skills of effective oral presentation including awareness of non-verbal communication. We will also briefly talk about strategies for effective group presentations.

Registration is required! Register through the student success portal.

  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Senate Governance Committee (SG)
    The Governance Committee shall have the responsibility of preparing a list of nominees to Senate committees for the annual meeting or as required. The Governance Committee may
    select nominees from outside the Senate except where otherwise stipulated. The establishment of a list of nominees does not preclude nomination from the floor. The Governance Committee shall consider and make recommendations to Senate for the proper functioning of the Senate. (See Terms of Reference 1.4).

    The agenda will be posted approximately one week in advance of the meeting and approved minutes will follow once approved at the subsequent meeting. Full agenda packages can be accessed by staff and faculty on Laurier Connect.

    Join us each Wednesday for Prayers for the World with Luther. We host sessions weekly over the lunch hour.

    Stop by any day of the week for different activities:

    • Mondays – contemplative music
    • Tuesdays – Reading and Reflecting on the Book of Acts: A Window into the Early Church
    • Wednesdays – prayers for the world
    • Thursdays – Chilling with Dogs; multifaith teachings
    • Fridays – Settler Work: contemplative arts; Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG)

    A facilitated study group (FSG) is a time and place for you to get together with other people from your classes and an FSG leader (someone who has previously taken the course) to discuss the course content and gain a deeper understanding of what is being covered in the class lectures and readings.

    This does not mean that the FSG leaders will teach you the content, but they will help you enhance your understanding of course material, and they can also help students with understanding assignment requirements.

    Save the Evidence will be hosting a lecture series on Laurier's Brantford Campus to explore issues surrounding Indian residential schools and reconciliation.

    Seeking Shelter: Indigenous People Seeking Safety in Their Own Country

    Senator Mary Jane McCallum, a dentist of Cree heritage, has provided dental care to First Nations communities across Manitoba. She will share her experience as a residential school survivor as part of her ongoing effort to raise awareness and understanding.
