9:30 AM - 12:30 PM University Teaching Foundations Certificate – International Students

This international graduate student focused University Teaching Foundations certificate will consist of a series of hands-on workshops and microteaching sessions to provide graduate students a basic foundation for success in the classroom as a teaching assistant, as well as gain transferable skills for use in future employment opportunities.

This session will focus on a number of topics and relate them to the your experiences as an international student and new comers to Canada who face unique challenges related to teaching.

    A facilitated study group (FSG) is a time and place for you to get together with other people from your classes and an FSG leader (someone who has previously taken the course) to discuss the course content and gain a deeper understanding of what is being covered in the class lectures and readings.

    This does not mean that the FSG leaders will teach you the content, but they will help you enhance your understanding of course material, and they can also help students with understanding assignment requirements.

    During the webinar, the faculty’s Dean, Maria Cantalini-Williams, and Associate Dean, Julie Mueller, will provide an overview of the Bachelor of Education program and application process. You will hear about the program from the perspectives of faculty, staff and current students. We’ll also tell you about the City of Waterloo where the Faculty of Education is located.
