9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Career Development Certificate for Students in Graduate and Professional Programs

Successfully transitioning from graduate school into academic or post-academic professions requires a combination of self-reflection and job market awareness, as well the proactive development of career planning and employment preparation skills. On Nov. 1, the Career Centre is offering professionalization workshops in each of these areas with the ultimate aim of supporting your progression into a meaningful career.

Attend a minimum of three of the career planning or employment preparation workshops for graduate students offered at any Laurier campus to earn your Career Development Certificate for Students in Graduate and Professional Programs. Your certificate will become a valuable part of your Laurier Experience Record and supplement your official transcripts.

  • Job Search and Networking Strategies for Academic Jobs

  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Executive & Governance Committee Meeting

    The Executive and Governance Committee is empowered to act on behalf of the Board with powers of executive authority as delegated. The Committee has overall responsibility for board education, the completion of annual and strategic plans, and the governance structures and practices of the Board.

    The agenda will be posted approximately one week in advance of the meeting and approved minutes will follow once approved at the subsequent meeting.  Full agenda packages can be accessed on Laurier Connect.

    The exchange information session will give you more information about going on exchange including:

    There is no need to register. Just drop in!

    Applications to go on exchange for the 2020/21 academic year are due in January 2020. Attending an information session is a mandatory part of the application process.

  • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM "WILF" Book Club Meeting: "Midnight Light"

    Dave Bidini will be joining the "WILF" book club for a meeting on his latest publication, Midnight Light (2019). 

    Dave Bidini is Laurier's fall 2019 visiting writer. The visiting writer residency invites Canadian writers to engage with our institutional and local communities as public intellectuals during an intensive one-week visit.

    Join us each Friday over the lunch hour for reflection.

    You are welcome to join us beginning at noon for a contemplative art activity or, if you prefer, to drop in at 12:30 p.m. for the focused conversation as the day’s contemplative art activity continues. The 20-minute focused conversation will be on the Calls for Justice prescribed in the report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

    Stop by any day of the week for different activities:

    • Mondays – contemplative music
    • Tuesdays – Reading and Reflecting on the Book of Acts: A Window into the Early Church
    • Wednesdays – prayers for the world
    • Thursdays – Chilling with Dogs; multifaith teachings
    • Fridays – Settler Work: contemplative arts; Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG)
