11:00 AM - 1:00 PM STEP Program for Mature and Transfer Students: Reading and Research Skills

The STEP (Strengthening Transitions through Educational Preparation) Program is a specialized support program developed for mature and transfer students. Each workshop is designed to help you prepare for the rigors of a university education, feel confident about your learning skills, and connect with other mature and transfer students.

This workshop is presented in partnership with the Laurier Library and will focus on narrowing a research topic, navigating the library website, reading academic articles and textbooks, and making good use of your sources.

  • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM Laurier Reads "Midnight Light"

    Laurier students, staff, and faculty are invited to participate in a discussion of Dave Bidini’s most recent book, Midnight Light (available in the Library and Bookstore). Professor Tanis McDonald from the Department of English and Film Studies will be facilitating a meeting for anyone interested in the week prior to Dave’s visit.

    Dave Bidini is Laurier's fall 2019 visiting writer. The visiting writer residency invites Canadian writers to engage with our institutional and local communities as public intellectuals during an intensive one-week visit.

    Take some time each Monday to pause with contemplative music at Luther. We host sessions weekly over the lunch hour.

    Stop by any day of the week for different activities:

    • Tuesdays – Reading and Reflecting on the Book of Acts: A Window into the Early Church
    • Wednesdays – prayers for the world
    • Thursdays – Chilling with Dogs; multifaith teachings
    • Fridays – Settler Work: contemplative arts; Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG)
