7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Mysterious Barricades - "The Stories We Tell"

Mysterious Barricades is an annual series of cross-Canada concerts for suicide awareness, prevention, and hope. 

Performers Include: Penderecki String Quartet, Guy Few (trumpet) & Stephanie Mara (piano), Gerard Yun (shakuhachi), Rene Meshake (pipigwan), and the band Safe as Houses.

In partnership with the Kitchener Public Library and Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council.

This concert will be recorded and then streamed on Saturday, September 14, 2019

All Day Xiaojing Yan: Heaven and Earth Mixed Media Installation (Multi-Day Event)

Xiaojing Yan's Heaven and Earth is a mixed media installation that features a mountain made of thousands of pine needles embedded in a silk organza and presents a different approach to traditional Chinese landscape painting.

Xiaojing Yan is a Chinese-Canadian artist based in Markham, Ontario. Her art highlights sculptural installations that combine the cultural and natural world and integrates both Western and Eastern elements, paralleling her own cultural identity a a Chinese-Canadian.

    Join us for Coffee Club! Meet new people and share experiences from your own country while learning more about Canadian culture in a relaxed and informal setting.     The Kanata Centre's Art on the Wall program presents an Indigenous Group Exhibit.

    Hours:

    • Weekdays  from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Some weekday evenings until January 25, 2019.
    • Excludes campus closure for Christmas and New Year holidays.

    Academic advising will be hosting drop-in appointments for the entire month of January, starting on Jan. 7 running until Jan. 25. They will be Monday to Friday from 9–11:30 a.m. and again from 1–3:30 p.m.. The events are first come, first served. Please note that we will cut the line when we reach capacity. Come see us in RCE132!

    12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Intro to 3D Printing

    Learn the basics of using a 3D printer and 3D designing software. This workshop uses a free online application called Tinkercad to teach makers who have never 3D printed about the 3D space and then also how to set up and print out your model on a 3D printer. For this workshop, please bring a laptop and computer mouse.

    7:00 PM - 8:30 PM Indigenous Artists' Talk
    Join us for a talk by Indigenous artists Catherine Dallaire, Luke Swinson and Thomas Anderson in conjunction with the exhibition Re:Connect, hanging at Luther until Jan. 25.

    The artists will describe their work and art practices, and speak to the the importance of deep connections to the land.
